I am a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Dundee where my primary research interest is the study of how accounting influences, and is influenced by, the everyday lives of individuals within contemporary society. This formed the basis of my PhD thesis, obtained from Heriot-Watt University, where I investigated the transformative role that accounting played within the British music industries throughout the historically important period of the 1960s. Since then I have retained a keen interest in accounting history and I am a member of the executive committee of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Accounting History Special Interest Group, and forms the core of my future research plans.

Prior to becoming an academic, I worked in professional accountancy practice and I am member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. I retain a keen interest in accounting pedagogy, and I have recently co-edited a textbook titled Financial and Management Accounting: An introduction with Professor Pauline Weetman, Professor Emerita at the University of Edinburgh.
